After completing a 4 year residency program in Dermatology & Venereology at the Jordan University Hospital, he obtained his Jordanian Board degree in Dermatology& Venereology in 2002. Shortly afterwards he joined another residency program at the University of Giessen in Germany, where he obtained the German Board degree in Dermatology & Venereology and did a one year fellowship in Dermatologic surgery at the same University. In 2007 Dr. Akkash also obtained the German Board in Allergeology.

Since 2009, Dr. Akkash has been chairing the Department of Dermatology at Jordan University Hospital, where he has worked as a Consultant Dermatologist & Derm-surgeon, as well as being an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Jordan.

Dr. Akkash is a member of many dermatological societies, including

• The German Society of Dermatology (DDG)
• The German Society of Dermatologic Surgery (DGDC)
• The American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS)
• The International Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ISDS)
• The Dermatologic & Aesthetic Surgery International League(DASIL)
• The Jordanian Society of Dermatology & Venereology (JSDV)

Dr.Akkash also serves as a Mentor for the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery – International Travelling Mentorship Program (ASDS –ITMP),he also is a Member of the International Advisory Council for Cancers of the Skin, a Diplomat of the American Board of Laser Surgery, and an Examiner for the Jordanian Board Degree in Dermatology.

Dr. Laith Akkash has participated as an Invited Faculty, Co-chair, &chair in many local and international events, including the 22nd World Congress of Dermatology, many congresses held by all ISDS, ASDS, DGDC, & DASIL, as well as to congresses of the Pan Arab League of Dermatology. He was also the Keynote Speaker in the Annual Meeting of the Indonesian Society of Dermatology in 2012,in addition to being a consultant & a speaker for most major pharmaceutical companies.

Dr. Akkash has also actively participated in the formulation of some of the local & regional guidelines, and has several contributions to the medical literature that were published in esteemed international medical journals.
